1 June 2025

We’re working on both sides of Bulleen Road as tunnelling continues on North East Link.

What we'll be doing

Activities to support tunnelling works will take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During this time, we’ll aim to minimise noise and light impacts away from your property as much as possible.

Overnight deliveries

We'll be delivering large pre-cast panel beams that will form part of the southern ventilation structure and roof of the tunnel. Deliveries will occur between 11pm and 5am Mondays to Fridays, with up to 6 deliveries each night.

Most deliveries will enter from Manningham Road and Bulleen Road before entering our work site via the Marcellin and Manningham Hotel & Club access road. The northbound lanes on Bulleen Road will remain open at all times.

Short-term delays of up to 10 minutes on Bulleen Road southbound may be experienced during each delivery as external pilot vehicles and traffic management safely guide the beams onto the site.

Managing construction impacts

Throughout our works, you may experience noise, light, dust, and vibration.

We manage these impacts through real time monitoring, water carts and street sweepers, targeted lighting, and reducing noise and vibration within the construction zone.

You may notice workers on local streets capturing photos as part of our ongoing management of these impacts. We do this in conjunction with our modelling to ensure we have an accurate understanding of how these impacts may be felt in different areas.

We will notify you before capturing any photos that include your property and we are happy to provide these photos upon request.

You may also see workers machinery in place, in and around construction areas, workers completing surveys in local streets and an increase of trucks removing dirt from our worksites.

To stay safe, please follow all instructions from signage and traffic controllers. We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout these works.

Track our TBMs

Our TBMs are powering ahead, excavating the North East Link Tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen. Both TBMs will take planned breaks throughout their journey from Watsonia to Bulleen to undertake regular maintenance.

Track their progress at Tunnel boring  machines tracker.

Bulleen Park Sports Upgrade Works

A temporary car park is now open with 151 car spaces. Next month crews will begin working on the existing soccer pitches to create the first new AFL/cricket oval and pavilion.

During these upgrades, one pavilion and two ovals will be maintained at all times. Find out more at Bulleen Park Sports Upgrade.

Eastern Freeway Upgrades

We’re preparing to open a new elevated section of Bulleen Road between the Eastern Freeway and Carey Sports Complex. Crews are completing the top deck of the bridge which will be ready for traffic in July.

Works between Burke and Tram roads on the Eastern Freeway, will include building the foundations of structures at Bulleen Road interchange, as well as moving utilities and asphalting new lanes. Expect lane closures, speed reductions and occasional ramp closures.

Information about noise wall designs for the Eastern Freeway Upgrades between Burke and Tram roads is now available in our fact sheet: New and upgraded noise walls for the Eastern Freeway.

You can visit us too at the Project Information Centre at 284 Doncaster Road, Balwyn North.
