18 March 2026
We’re upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new Eastern Busway, smart technology and a connection to North East Link – slashing travel times and improving travel in Melbourne’s east.
What we're doing
In late March and April, we’ll build a temporary construction access into the work site at Junction Road Reserve and widen the existing Springvale Road city-bound entry ramp onto the Eastern Freeway.
To safely build the access and widen the ramp, we’ll work around the clock from:
- 9pm, Friday 27 March to 5am, Monday 30 March
- 10pm, Wednesday 8 April to 11.59pm, Friday 24 April
- 9pm, Friday 1 May to 5am, Monday 4 May
Building direct access to our work site and compound at Junction Road Reserve will help limit the number of construction vehicles using local roads.
Works include:
- installing and adjusting temporary traffic barriers
- noise wall removal
- removal of existing kerb and asphalt
- earthworks and pavement construction
- relocation of existing drainage
- building a temporary construction access into the work site at Junction Road Reserve
- installing asphalt along the widened freeway entry ramp.
