Upgrades to train detection technology are being completed on the last of 53 public level crossings on the Warrnambool Line, to enable the introduction of modern and accessible VLocity trains.
Thank you for your patience while this important work is underway.
What we are doing
We’re completing work to upgrade level crossings between Winchelsea and Warrnambool with improved train detection technology to improve safety and enable VLocity trains.
The final phase of works will occur at Considines Road in Modewarre and Lowndes Road.
Works will include:
- installation of axle counters, flashing lights
and boom gates - signalling installation and asphalting.
Works will take place each day along the rail corridor near the level crossings between 7am and 7pm with occasional night works as required.
What to be aware of
Coaches will replace trains between Geelong and Warrnambool from 15 June to 25 August. Significant delays are expected. Check before you travel.
Major construction on the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication will also be completed during this time.
