1 March 2024 to 1 November 2024
Works are underway in Box Hill to deliver Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East for Melbourne and Victoria.
We’re building a temporary road bridge and continuing utility works on Whitehorse Road as well as establishing a site compound in Elland Avenue.
These works will be carried out from Friday 1 March for approximately 11 months. They will be undertaken during both day-time and night-time working hours.
Day time working hours
- 7am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday
Night time working hours
- 6pm to 7am, Monday to Saturday
Whitehorse Road
Friday 1 March for up to 9 months.
- Moving utilities
- Temporary bridge works.
6 Elland Avenue
Monday 4 March for up to 11 months.
- Establishing a site compound
Impacts
As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction.
The project will support businesses and residents to ensure people can continue to live, work, study and shop in their local community.
Please contact us on 1800 105 105 to discuss support available if you are impacted by our works.
How we will manage our works
We will be using equipment that generates elevated noise, dust and vibrations. We will minimise impacts to the community by:
- Where possible, keeping Whitehorse Road open in both directions on Friday and Saturday nights
- Maintaining access to the 109 tram terminus from either the north or south side
- Using noise blankets on machinery and fencing where possible
- Turning off equipment when not in use
- Applying water during cutting and drilling if required
- Using water trucks and dust suppressants where required.
Future works
We will start moving underground services in Box Hill Gardens from April. We will share further information about these works in our next update.
