Works are continuing in Burwood to deliver SRL East for Melbourne and Victoria.

We're starting the next stage of site establishment works while construction of a tunnel access shaft continues. These works will involve upgrading the west boundary fencing along Gardiners Creek, site investigations, utility works and building demolition.

To enhance safety during these ongoing works, we’re also installing new signage on local roads.

These works will be carried out from Thursday 7 December for up to 9 weeks.

These works will be undertaken during day-time working hours only.

Day-time working hours

• 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
• 7am to 1pm, Saturday

McComas Grove and Sinnot Street

From Thursday 7 December:

• Installation of traffic signage
• Works will take place over 2 days.

Bennetswood Reserve

From Monday 11 December:

• Site investigations beside the pedestrian pathway
• Works will take place over 10 days.

Burwood site compound

From early January:

• Site investigations
• Building demolition and service decommissioning
• West boundary fence upgrades
• Works will take place for up to 1 month.

How we will manage our works

We will be using equipment that generates high levels of noise, and elevated dust and vibrations. We will minimise impacts to the community by:

• Positioning equipment as far as possible from residents and businesses
• Turning equipment off when not in use
  Applying water during cutting and drilling if required
• Traffic management in place to ensure drivers, pedestrians and workers remain safe
• Regularly keeping the community updated via works notifications as construction progresses.

Noise impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The project will support businesses and residents to ensure people can continue to live, work, study and shop in their local community.

Future works

Further utility relocation works, site establishment, tree removal and demolition works are planned from early 2024. We will provide further details about these works in the coming months.

Traffic changes

Traffic changes are needed to complete these works. Vehicle and pedestrian access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times with help from traffic controllers when required.
