Works are continuing in Burwood to deliver SRL East for Melbourne and Victoria.

We're undertaking additional works in Burwood while the tunnel access structure construction is underway.

To ensure safety during these ongoing works, we need to make some traffic changes, such as installing a speed bump and new signage. Additionally, Optus will be decommissioning some telecommunication services that are no longer in use to make way for SRL East.

These works will be carried out from Monday 9 October for approximately 6 weeks.

These works will be undertaken during both day-time and night-time working hours.

Working hours

Day-time working hours

• 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
• 7am to 1pm, Saturday

Night-time working hours

• 7pm to 7am, Monday to Sunday (for up to 4 night shifts)

Sinnott Street

From Monday 9 October

• Speed bump installation near the Southern site entrance
• Works take place over 2 days.

Burwood Highway between McIntyre Street and Cumming Street

From Monday 16 October

• Installation of traffic signage
• Works will take place over 2 nights during night-time working hours.

McComas Grove

From Monday 9 October 2023

• Rectification road works near the site entrance
• Works will take place over 2 days.

Burwood Highway and Highbury Road

• Communication utility removal works
• Works will take place over 2 nights during night-time working hours.

How we will manage our works

We will be using equipment that generates low levels of noise, dust and vibrations.

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

• Positioning equipment as far as possible from residents and businesses
• Turning equipment off when not in use
• Applying water during cutting and drilling if required
• Regularly keeping the community updated via works notifications as construction progresses.

Noise impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The project will support businesses and residents to ensure people can continue to live, work, study and shop in their local community.

Traffic changes

Traffic changes are needed to complete these works. Vehicle and pedestrian access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times with help from traffic controllers when required. Please see below for details of staged traffic changes in the area.
