Works happening in your area

We’re moving underground services on Haughton Road, Carinish Road, Link Road and Clayton Road.

These works will be carried out in stages and are required to prepare for major construction activities.

Works will include:

  • Set up of traffic management including barriers and fencing
  • Removal of some trees and vegetation
  • Excavation of trenches and pits
  • Installation of service pipes.

Works will begin from early March for up to 3 months. These works will be undertaken during day-time and night-time working hours.

Daytime working hours

  • 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • 7am to 1pm, Saturday

Night-time working hours

  • 6pm to 7am, Monday to Sunday (if required)

Haughton Road, Link Road, Carinish Road (West of Clayton Road), Clayton Road (North of Haughton Road)

  • Site investigations
  • Moving services including trenching and drilling
  • Tree and vegetation removal

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

  • Monitoring air quality
  • Using water trucks and dust suppressants where required
  • Covering truck loads when transporting materials from site to minimise dust
  • Positioning equipment as far as possible from residents and businesses and turning it off when not in use

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The project will support businesses and residents to ensure people can continue to live, work, study and shop in their local community.

Traffic changes

Traffic changes are needed to complete these works. Vehicle and pedestrian access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times with help from traffic controllers when required. Traffic changes including lane closures and road closures will be staged throughout works to minimise the level of disruption to traffic in the area.

Stage 1

Early March for up to 1 month

Haughton Road

  • Day-time road closure for eastbound traffic between McGregor Street and Clayton Road for up to 2 weeks
  • Day-time road closure between Link Road and Clayton Road in both directions for up to 2 weeks
  • Up to 21 car parking spaces closed in stages during the day for up to 1 month

Link Road

  • Day-time road closures in both directions for up to 1 month. Detours in place

Carinish Road

  • Intermittent day-time road closures and lane closures from Madeleine Road to Clayton Road in both directions for up to 1 month. Detours in place

Clayton Road

  • Overnight lane closure for southbound traffic between Carinish Road and Haughton Road for up to 1 week

Stage 2

Early to mid March for up to 1 month

Clayton Road

  • Overnight lane closures in both directions from Remembrance Gardens to Haughton Road for up to 1 month. Traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic holds
  • Access for emergency vehicles and buses will be maintained
  • Day-time localised pedestrian detours between Colonel Street and Carinish Road for up to 2 weeks

Haughton Road

  • Day-time road closure for eastbound traffic between McGregor Street and Nicholson Court for up to 1 month
  • Overnight road closures in both directions from McGregor Street to Clayton Road for up to 1 month
  • Up to 21 car parking spaces closed in stages both day and night for up to 1 month

Carinish Road

  • Overnight road closure in both directions from Madeleine Road to Clayton Road for up to 1 month
  • Overnight road closure for westbound traffic from Clayton Road to Mary Street for up to 1 month. Access for emergency vehicles and buses will be maintained.

Link Road

  • Day-time and overnight road closures in both directions for up to 1 month. Detours in place.
Mid March for up to 6 weeks

Haughton Road

  • Day-time road closure for eastbound traffic between McGregor Street and Nicholson Court for up to 2 weeks

Up to 21 car parking spaces closed in stages for up to 1 month Link Road

  • Day-time road closures for northbound traffic for up to 2 weeks. Detours in place

Clayton Road

  • Overnight southbound lane closure between Carinish Road and Haughton Road for up to 1 month. No left turn onto Clayton Road from Carinish Road.
