Works are underway in Clayton to deliver Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East for Melbourne and Victoria.

What we are doing

Day works: 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturday

Night works: 9pm to 7am Monday to Saturday

The following works will be carried out during May.

  • Overnight southbound lane closure between Carinish Road and Haughton Road for approximately 1 month
  • Overnight lane closures in both directions between Remembrance Gardens and Haughton Road for approximately 4 weeks
  • Overnight full road closures between Remembrance Gardens and Carinish Road for approximately one week
  • Lane closures in both directions between Colonel Street and Carinish Road day and night (note these closures will remain in place until 2025 to support ongoing works in the area)
  • Traffic management and pedestrian detours
  • Access for buses and emergency vehicles maintained
Remembrance Gardens, Clayton Day works: Ongoing for approximately 3 months
  • Moving underground services
  • Temporary closure of Remembrance Gardens
    (note these closures will remain in place until
    2025 to support ongoing works in the area)
  • Driveway and laneway closures
  • Car space closures
  • Pedestrian detours
Carinish Road, Clayton Day/night works: Ongoing for approximately 1 month
  • Moving underground services
  • Intermittent road and lane closures in both directions between Madeleine Road and Clayton Road
  • Access for buses and emergency vehicles maintained
Haughton Road, Clayton Day/night works: Ongoing for approximately 1 month
  • Moving underground services
  • Intermittent full road closures in both directions during the day and overnight between McGregor Street and Clayton Road
  • Intermittent road closure for eastbound traffic between McGregor Street and Clayton Road
  • Local access to Nicholson Court maintained
  • Up to 21 car spaces closed in stages
Link Road, Clayton Day/night works: Ongoing for approximately 1 month
  • Moving underground services
  • Intermittent road closures in both directions

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The Project supports businesses and residents to continue to live, work, study and shop in their community.

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

  • Keeping Clayton Road open in both directions during day time hours and most nights
  • Maintaining access for emergency vehicles and buses at all times
  • Maintaining access to homes and businesses
  • Transporting materials from site in covered trucks to minimise dust
  • Using water and dust suppressants
  • Installing road safety and detour signage
  • Monitoring noise, dust and vibration levels
  • Removing hazardous materials in accordance with Environment Protection Authority regulations
  • Positioning equipment as far as possible from businesses and residents and turning it off when not in use
  • Positioning light towers away from properties.
