Works are underway in Heatherton to deliver SRL East for Melbourne and Victoria.

What we are doing

Day works: 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturday

Night works: 6pm to 7am Monday to Saturday

Extended works: 6pm to 10pm Monday to Friday, and 1pm to 5pm Saturday. 24-hour works over 4 weekends in August (see below for details).

The following works will be carried out during August.

  • Traffic barrier removal and installation

  • Daytime and overnight lane closures in both directions between Dingley Bypass and Clayton Road during weekdays
  • Road closure between Dingley Bypass and Clayton Road for up to 4 weekends. Access to properties will be maintained
  • Route 631 bus stops closed (Kingston Road between Peace Road and Clayton Road) for 4 weekends (see map over page for nearest available bus stops)
  • Traffic management and detours will be in place

  • Reduced speed limit near Kingston Road from mid-August for up to 1 week
Kingston Road, HeathertonDay works: Ongoing through August
Night works: From mid August for up to 4 nights

  • Keep clear line marking between Golf View Road and Nicholas Grove
  • Intermittent eastbound lane closure between Golf View Road and Pietro Road
  • Overnight eastbound lane closure between Golf View Road and Pietro Road from mid-August for up to 4 nights. Access to properties will be maintained.
Old Dandenong Road, HeathertonDay and night works: From mid-August to late September
  • Moving underground water and power services
  • Traffic barrier placement
  • Southbound lane closure between Elder Street South and Henry Street from mid August to late August
  • Overnight road closure between Elder Street South and Kingston Road for up to 4 nights in late August
  • Henry Street closed at intersection during day and night from late August to late September

Upcoming works

Old Dandenong Road will be closed permanently in coming months for construction of the Stabling Facility. Further details will be shared closer to the closure date.

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The Project supports businesses and residents to continue to live, work, study and shop in their community.

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

  • Transporting materials from site in covered trucks to minimise dust
  • Removing hazardous materials in accordance with EPA regulations
  • Scheduling works to reduce impacts
  • Installing road safety and detour signage
  • Maintaining access to homes and businesses
  • Monitoring noise, dust and vibration levels
  • Minimising light spill
  • Turning off equipment when not in use
  • Using noise blankets on equipment
  • Using water and dust suppressants.
