Heatherton and Clarinda: September works update

Heatherton and Clarinda Community Information Session

Come along and chat to representatives from SRLA, Laing O’Rourke and Suburban Connect ias we provide information on progress and upcoming works in the area.

Works are underway in Heatherton to prepare for tunnelling to begin in 2026 and future construction of the Stabling Facility.

Current works

Site establishment to set up a site compound and prepare for construction of the western tunnel entrance
Preparing to build a vehicle access point into the Stabling Facility from Kingston Road
Moving underground and above ground services
Construction of the eastern tunnel entrance to support tunnelling activities and allow trains to exit and enter the tunnel once operational
Locating underground services, soil and geotechnical investigations to prepare for future construction activities
Construction of the Stabling Network Support Facility to provide power during construction and operation of Suburban Rail Loop East.

It's important to note the timing of works may change due to weather or ground conditions.

Old Dandenong Road Closure

Old Dandenong Road will be closed permanently from Tuesday 1 October 2024 for construction of the Stabling Facility. Further details will be shared closer to the date.

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction.
The Project supports businesses and residents to continue to live, work, study and shop in their community.

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

Transporting materials from site in covered trucks to minimise dust
Removing hazardous materials in accordance with EPA regulations
Scheduling works to reduce impacts
Maintaining access to homes and businesses
Monitoring noise, dust and vibration levels
Minimising light to businesses and residents
Turning off equipment when not in use
Using noise blankets on equipment
Using water and dust suppressants.
