Works are underway in Heatherton to deliver Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East for Melbourne and Victoria.

What we are doing

As part of our ongoing site investigation works, asbestos containing materials have been identified at 91-185 Kingston Road, Heatherton.

This is non-friable asbestos, which means the material is not at risk of becoming airborne. It does not pose a health or safety risk to the local community or our workers.

WorkSafe Victoria has been notified, and the material will be safely removed from the site from mid-September.

You may see increased activity on site and workers in specialised protective clothing as we undertake safe removal of the materials.

A licensed contractor will undertake the removal and an occupational hygienist will oversee the work.

We will undertake further investigations over the coming weeks to determine if there is any more asbestos on site, which would also be removed in line with safety requirements and controls.
