Works are underway in Burwood to deliver Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East for Melbourne and Victoria.

What we are doing

24 hour works: Monday to Sunday

The following works will be carried out during October and November 2026.

  • Low to medium levels of noise, dust and vibration

Tunnelling has started

Tunnel boring machine (TBM) Alice is now heading towards Glen Waverley with TBM Hacia also in the ground and ready to follow soon. While this is underway, we're excavating a second launch site near Burwood Highway to allow TBMs Elizabeth and Bich-Cam to start tunnelling towards Box Hill in 2027.

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The Project supports businesses and residents to continue to live, work, study and shop in their community.

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to community by:

  • Maintaining access to businesses and homes
  • Transporting materials from site in covered trucks to minimise dust
  • Installing road safety and detour signage
  • Building acoustic sheds to minimise noise and dust from construction activities
  • Monitoring noise, dust and vibration levels
  • Using water and dust suppressants
  • Safely removing hazardous materials in accordance with regulations.
