Clayton: March works update

17 February 2025 to 31 March 2025

Works are underway in Clayton to deliver Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East for Melbourne and Victoria.

What we are doing

Day works: 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturday
Night works: 6pm to 7am Monday to Saturday
Extended works: 7am to 1pm Sunday

Preparing for the new SRL train station at Clayton

Tunnel boring machines to build the SRL East tunnels will launch in 2026. To prepare for building the new underground station, the Clayton SRL worksite has expanded. Carinish Road, between Clayton and Link roads, and the open space beneath the elevated rail line between Carinish and Haughton roads are now permanently closed. Clayton shopping precinct remains open and accessible throughout these works. Click here to learn more.

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The Project supports businesses and residents to continue to live, work, study and shop in their community.

How we will manage our works

Maintaining access for emergency vehicles and buses at all times
Maintaining access to homes and businesses
Safely removing hazardous materials in accordance with Environmental Protection Authority regulations
Transporting materials from site in covered trucks to minimise dust
Using water and dust suppressants
Installing road safety and detour signage
Pedestrian and cyclist detours in place.
