Heatherton and Clarinda: September works update

25 August 2025 to 1 October 2025

Works are underway in Heatherton and Clarinda to deliver Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East for Melbourne and Victoria.

What we are doing

Stabling Facility in Heatherton

Building the eastern tunnel entrance (ETE) and western tunnel entrance (WTE)
Building a permanent network support facility (NSF)
Moving underground and above ground services.

Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) launch site, Clarinda

Building the Clarinda tunnel access structures (TAS)
Connecting underground services.

Day works: 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturday
Extended works: 6pm to 10pm Monday to Friday and 1pm to 10pm Saturday
Night works: 6pm to 7am Monday to Sunday
24 hour works: 7am to 7am Monday to Sunday

Note: Timing of works may change due to weather or ground conditions.

Local traders remain open for business during works.

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The Project supports businesses and residents to continue to live, work, study and shop in their community.

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

Covering trucks to minimise dust
Monitoring noise, dust and vibration levels
Using noise blankets and hoarding to minimise noise, dust and light spill
Safely removing hazardous materials in accordance with regulations
Using water and dust suppressants
Maintaining access to homes and businesses.
