Works are underway in Monash to deliver Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East for Melbourne and Victoria.

What we are doing

Night works 6pm to 7am Monday to Saturday
Day works 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturday

The following works will be carried out from December.

Ferntree Gully Road and Howleys Road intersection, Notting Hill

Day works: Mid December to late January

Night works: Ongoing until early February

  • Moving underground services
  • Day time intersection closure for up to 3 weeks across December and January
  • Overnight intersection closure

Howleys Road, Notting Hill

Day works: Ongoing until mid February

Night works: Ongoing until mid February

  • Moving underground services
  • Changed traffic conditions including lane closures and overnight road closures
  • Up to 25 car spaces closed

Normanby Road, Notting Hill

Day works: Ongoing until late January

Night works: Mid January to late February

  • Access to properties will be maintained by traffic controllers
  • Up to 25 car spaces closed
  • Changes to bus route 742 overnight (visit ptv.vic.gov.au to plan your journey)

Blackburn Road, Notting Hill

Night works: Early February to late February

  • Site investigations
  • Changed traffic conditions including lane closures
  • No access onto Normanby Road west of Blackburn Road

There are no SRL works during the holiday period from Saturday 21 December to Monday 13 January inclusive.

Minor road works will be happening around the Notting Hill area throughout early 2025.

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The Project supports businesses and residents to continue to live, work, study and shop in their community.

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

  • Access to businesses will be maintained during businesses hours, with help from traffic controllers where required
  • Pedestrian detours in place
  • Keeping Ferntree Gully Road open on Saturday and Sunday nights
  • Staging works along Howleys Road and Normanby Road to minimise traffic disruption
  • Transporting materials from site in covered trucks to minimise dust
  • Installing road safety and detour signage
  • Positioning equipment as far as possible from businesses and residents and turning it off when not in use
  • Safely removing hazardous materials in accordance with EPA regulations
  • Monitoring noise, dust and vibration levels.
