Works are underway in Monash to deliver Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East for Melbourne and Victoria.

24 hour works 7am Monday to midnight Saturday

  • Intermittent overnight deliveries, including on Sundays
  • Increased truck movements
  • Moderate levels of noise, vibration and dust

Howleys Road, Notting Hill

Day works: Ongoing

  • Site investigations
  • Installing fences
  • Road modifications
  • Changed traffic conditions including intermittent lane and road closures
  • Traffic management and pedestrian detours
  • Moderate levels of noise, vibration and dust
  • Increased truck movements
  • On-street parking space closures

Normanby Road, Notting Hill

Day works: Ongoing

  • Site  establishment
  • Road modifications
  • Changed traffic conditions including intermittent lane and road closures
  • Footpath closures with pedestrian detours in place

Note: Timing of works may change due to weather or ground conditions.

Oversized deliveries

There will continue to be large equipment and machinery delivered to the Monash worksite. Most deliveries can be moved on a normal truck load during the day, however there will be some oversize loads delivered at night to reduce traffic impacts.

Impacts

As with all major infrastructure projects, surrounding communities may experience some impacts during construction. The Project supports businesses and residents to continue to live, work, study and shop in their community.

How we will manage our works

We will minimise impacts to the community by:

  • Maintaining access to businesses during businesses hours, with help from traffic controllers where required
  • Staging works along Howleys Road and Normanby Road to minimise traffic disruption
  • Installing road safety and detour signage
  • Notifying bus stop disruptions at the impacted stops ahead of time
  • Transporting materials from site in covered trucks to minimise dust
  • Positioning equipment as far as possible from businesses and residents and turning it off when not in use
  • Safely removing hazardous materials in accordance with regulations
  • Monitoring noise, dust and vibration levels.
