28 October 2024

The West Gate Tunnel Project is currently resurfacing the citybound lanes on Footscray Road. We recently worked on Footscray Road’s westbound carriageway between Shepherd Bridge and Appleton Dock Road.

So that we can continue working on the surface and kerb along the citybound carriageway, we’ll need to remove some trees on the Footscray Road median strip between Shepherd Bridge and Appleton Dock Road. This is needed because the tree roots clash with the kerb and road surface works.

These trees are due to be removed between Monday 28 October and Friday 8 November 2024. We are constantly reviewing our work to reduce the number of impacted trees where possible. These efforts will be ongoing, with qualified arborists and environmental specialists on the ground working with our construction teams to help minimise tree removal.

When we’ll be working

We’ll be working from 7am Monday 28 October to 6pm Friday 8 November 2024.

Works and impacts

  • Construction vehicles and equipment in the area, including chainsaws and a mulcher
  • Construction activity including noise
  • Changed traffic conditions including lane closures on Footscray Road between Shepherd Bridge and Appleton Dock Road between 7am and 6pm, with signage in place.

This work may be subject to approvals and permits and may change due to site and weather conditions.

We appreciate our work may be disruptive. Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding.

Noise

Construction activity, including some noise is to be expected during these works. Depending on the type of works and if works are expected to create extra noise, the West Gate Tunnel Project team will be in contact with residents directly.
