Reminder of upcoming parking removal and lane closure – Hall Street, Spotswood (between Simcock Avenue and Hudsons Road)

As part of the West Gate Tunnel Project, we’ll be building a new shared walking and cycling path between the railway line and Hall Street (see notification from 29 August 2023).

When we’ll be working

We’ll be working from Thursday 9 November to mid-December 2023.

What we'll be doing

Parking along the rail corridor on Hall Street, south of Simcock Avenue, will be temporarily removed from 7am on Thursday 9 November 2023.

Daytime construction activity will increase along Hall Street during this time including:

  • Excavation
  • Concreting works
  • Drainage works
  • Fence installation
  • Pram crossing works

While these works occur, alternative parking will be available on:

  • Simcock Avenue
  • Booker Street
  • Hall Street – south of Hudsons Road
  • The Avenue – next to Donald McLean Reserve. Parallel parking will be reinstated along the new walking and cycling path once these works are complete.

Lane closure

Southbound traffic along Hall Street, south of Simcock Avenue, will also be reduced to one way.

This means traffic won’t be able to turn left or right into Hall Street from Hudsons Road.

The detour will be via Hudsons Road, Booker Street and Simcock Avenue.

Please follow the detour and all signage carefully.

Businesses in Hall Street and Simcock Avenue will still be accessible as usual.
