5 March 2024
As part of the West Gate Tunnel Project there will be overnight closures of the West Gate Freeway.
When we'll be working
We’ll be working overnight from Tuesday 19 March to Friday 22 March 2024.
What we’ll be doing
These overnight closures are required to install full span overhead gantries along the West Gate Freeway between the West Gate Bridge and Millers Road.
Impacts
The West Gate Bridge between Williamstown Road and Montague Street will be closed overnight in both directions on Tuesday 19 March 2024, 11pm to 5am.
The West Gate Freeway between Millers Road and Williamstown Road will be closed nightly from Wednesday 20 March to Friday 22 March 2024. Inbound will be closed from 10pm to 5am and outbound will be closed from 10:30pm to 5am.
Additional impacts
While the West Gate Bridge is closed, the following ramps will also be closed overnight on Tuesday 19 March 2024:
- Montague Street outbound entry ramp closed from 10pm to 5:30am.
- Todd Road and Prohasky Street outbound entry ramps closed from 10pm to 5:30am.
- Williamstown Road inbound entry ramp closed from 9pm to 5am.
- Millers Road inbound entry ramp closed from 9pm to 5am.
Changes to the way you travel
- While roads and ramps are closed, detours will be in place, so follow the on-road signs, check traffic media reports and drive carefully.
- Please allow for extra travel time during these closures.
