Works notification: Federation Trail works
With the start of a New Year, we’re eager to let you know that from mid-January we will begin building a section of the Federation Trail extension, from the Footscray Hockey Club to The Boulevard.
Initially, we’ll need to remove the old timber noise wall panels along Fogarty Avenue as the new noise wall is now in place and set up barriers before we can begin construction activities. Once completed, the Federation Trail will extend from the Footscray Hockey Club to Hyde Street and provide a safe and dedicate space for cyclists and pedestrians along the West Gate Freeway.

- installing barriers with screening along Fogarty Avenue, to establish a safe construction site
- pouring concrete to form the new shared use path and repairing kerb and placing new asphalt in sections along Fogarty Avenue
- completing the drainage pits along Fogarty Avenue.

Fogarty Avenue shared use path bridge
Restarting mid – January
Construction of a new shared use path (SUP) bridge for pedestrians and cyclists near the reserve at the east end of Fogarty Avenue is continuing in 2021. The new bridge will form part of the Federation Trail and connect with the shared use path on the Hyde Street inbound ramp.
This will include:
- piling to support the new SUP bridge
- constructing piers to support the new SUP bridge
- formwork and concrete pours to create the SUP bridge deck. The closure of the shared use path that runs over Stony Creek and through the reserve near Fogarty Avenue will continue while these works take place. A detour via The Boulevard and Benbow Street in in place.
