Boronia Station is sporting an added splash of colour, thanks to some budding artists from Dillbadin Primary School.
As part of the Boronia Station Upgrade, students were invited to help brighten the station precinct during the upgrade by creating works of art inspired by the question, ‘Where does the train take you?’
About 38 students ranging in age from Prep to Grade 6 collaborated on the art initiative, with their colourful artworks photographed and transferred onto large boards, now proudly on display in the station precinct.
Dillbadin Primary School art teacher Mrs Blake said the students and the school community was thrilled to see the art works now in place.
“Watching their creativity come to life and be shared with the wider community is incredibly special and I’m so proud of the work they put it to the project,” she said.
“Some of the students didn’t believe their artwork would really be displayed at the train station, so when they heard that it was actually there, they were all so very excited.”
The artworks will remain on display while crews work to upgrade the station.
The Boronia Station Upgrade will improve accessibility across the station precinct, with a wider station concourse, new platform shelters and upgraded seating and lighting, as well as new landscaped spaces, including a new community plaza between Lupton Way and Dorset Road.
To enable these works to safely take place, Boronia Station will be closed from 11:30pm Friday 8 May until spring. Trains will not stop at the station during this time, with shuttle buses to Bayswater and Ferntree Gully stations leaving from the station car park north of Chandler Road.
