Trains will return to Boronia Station next month, with works progressing on the Boronia Station Upgrade to deliver a more modern and accessible station precinct.
Passengers will be able to resume catching a train at Boronia Station from Tuesday 4 August, with access to the platforms via lifts or stairs at the western entrance on Erica Avenue.
Buses will replace trains between Bayswater and Belgrave from 8.30pm Monday 27 July to last service Monday 3 August while crews work around the clock to clean and paint the trench walls, install roofs on the new platform canopies, complete paving and tactile signage, and install screen fencing.
When trains return to Boronia Station, crews will continue working to complete the station precinct, including the new ticket and protective services offices and community plaza and pocket park.
The western station entrance on Erica Avenue will close for finishing works from late August to late September, with the new Lupton Way station entrance open to passengers via a footpath from Dorset Road. Lupton Way will reopen to traffic in late September.
When the upgraded station is completed in spring, both station entrances will be open and the modern new station forecourt will feature a striking canopy inspired by flora from the nearby Dandenong Ranges, and an expanded concourse to improve connections over the rail line.
Accessibility will also be improved with an updated pick-up and drop-off zone on Lupton Way, upgraded footpaths to both station entrances, and more bike hoops and better connections for cyclists.
The upgrade will also add more greenery across the precinct, with more than 50 new trees and about 3000 plants and shrubs to be planted across the station area, in the new pocket park and the new landscaped plaza connecting Dorset Road to the station.
