Seaford locals are now invited to provide feedback on early designs released for 2 level crossing removals and a new Seaford Station, set to open in 2028 – a year ahead of schedule.
Two rail bridges will be built over Armstrongs Road and Station Street in Seaford, boosting safety and easing congestion throughout the area by separating trains from vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.
Early designs show the new, elevated and accessible Seaford Station, with an entrance, stairs and a lift at each end of the station to improve connectivity.
The designs have been shaped by community feedback with the station and rail bridge inspired by the coastline and sand dunes, and colours drawn from the nearby Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands, Seaford Beach and local flora.
New landscaped open spaces will be built under the elevated station and rail bridges, with new walking and cycling connections linking to the Kananook Creek Trail.
Safety will be boosted across the station precinct, with improved lighting and sightlines, and better connections in the station car parks and to Station Street, Seaford RSL and the Scout Hall.
Seven near misses have been recorded at the Station Street level crossing since 2016, and more than 5000 vehicles travel through both crossings every day, with the boom gates down for more than half an hour in the morning peak.
Construction will start next year, with the dangerous level crossings gone for good and the new Seaford Station open in 2028.
The community can view the early designs, provide feedback and sign up for information sessions at Engage Victoria. Design feedback submissions close by 11.59pm, Sunday 7 June and planning submissions close by 11.59pm, Friday 12 June.
