Frankston construction blitz starts with station demolition

The decades old Frankston Station has been demolished, marking the start of a winter construction blitz on the Frankston Line.

The works beginning on 4 May 2018 mark the start of a blitz to not only build a new station at Frankston but also remove the level crossing at Skye/Overton Road, preparing it for elevated rail. Laying of temporary track at Seaford is also underway.

Construction of the new rail bridges over the Skye/Overton Road level crossing are set to be completed by 17 June 2018.

The new Frankston Station precinct will be fully complete by the end of the year.

Further up the line at the Seaford Road level crossing, the project team will use the opportunity of the rail line closure to build more than a kilometre of temporary track. This will allow trains to continue running through Seaford while the majority of future works take place.

The Level Crossing Removal Project continues to work closely with public transport operators, VicRoads and other key stakeholders to ensure that these important rail upgrades are completed safely and efficiently.

On the Frankston Line, the Victorian Government is removing 10 more level crossings and rebuilding 6 more train stations, following the completion of station and level crossing upgrades at Ormond, McKinnon and Bentleigh.
