The new open space near the old Melton Highway level crossing is set for another artistic makeover.
An eye-catching sculpture – Glenlyon artist Jason Waterhouse’s clever twist on the former Melton Highway boom gates – has already been installed and is beautifully poised under the eastern end of the new 6-lane bridge.
Now, expressions of interest are open for an Indigenous artist to make their creative mark and add to the space, with a mural that reflects the heritage of the local area.
The mural will be installed across the fluted concrete wall, opposite the boom gate sculpture, once a successful artist is chosen later this year.
This latest addition is being delivered by the Level Crossing Removal Project in partnership with Brimbank City Council.
