Keon Parade kicks off for 2024

A construction crew of around 200 has hit the tracks near Keon Park Station, working around the clock for 10 days to demolish the old station building and platforms and remove old track and railway infrastructure.

The team said farewell to the 40-year-old station building as excavators took it to pieces, ready for the earthworks crew to start work, flattening out the ground where the station once stood.

This week, rail workers will connect the tracks on the existing Mernda Line with one side of the new elevated track, and commission trains for this new rail bridge.

Trains will resume running on the new city-bound rail bridge on Monday 22 January, with a shuttle bus connecting passengers to Ruthven and Thomastown stations while the new station is being built.

During this time, trains will not stop at Keon Park Station. A shuttle bus will run between Thomastown and Ruthven stations for passengers who need to get on and off at Keon Park Station.

Keon Parade’s boom gates will be gone for good, and the new, state of the art Keon Park Station open to the community by spring this year.
