Social enterprises are addressing the biggest social and economic challenges in our community by offering products, skills and training, and creating new jobs for disadvantaged Victorians.
A number of our level crossing removal projects are engaging their services.
One example is the Yarra View Nursery in Mount Evelyn - a social enterprise making a huge difference in the local community by creating jobs for disadvantaged Victorians and producing high quality plants.
They are the wholesale supplier of tens of thousands of plants being used for revegetation on the Bayswater Level Crossing Removal Project.
The Bayswater project has also engaged the services of another social enterprise, Nadrasca, to print and distribute community newsletters.
The Victorian Government have released their Social Enterprise Strategy to strengthen the sector and create more employment opportunities for disadvantaged Victorians – the first of its kind in Australia.
