Little landscapers lend a hand at Camms Road

The Project team at the Camms Road level crossing removal project was recently joined by some little landscapers who got their boots dirty to help get the job done.

Children from Station House Early Years Learning Centre visited our site to plant various types of tube stock plants near the Camms Road bridge, where more than 30,000 trees, plants, shrubs and grasses will help create a greener area for the local community to enjoy.

This is on the back of what we heard during consultation, where you told us you’d like landscaping that visually enhanced the local area, making the community feel safer and more secure.

During the session, our team chatted to the children about the importance of planting in the area and each child was gifted gloves, a spade and a plantable thank you certificate to continue their gardening at home.

The Camms Road level crossing was removed for good in November 2023, a year ahead of schedule, by building a road bridge over the Cranbourne Line.

Now we’re finalising works on 400 new and upgraded car parks for Cranbourne Station. The new car park will also feature improved CCTV and lighting as well as 210 more bicycle parks. This will free up local streets and make it easier to catch the train.

The new car park at Fairfield Street and the accessible spaces at Cranbourne Station will open to the public by early August.

Crews are also working to finish the new Cranbourne Station plaza which will create open space for locals to enjoy. The new plaza features seating, landscaping and connects the new and existing paths around the road bridge.

The project follows the completion of the Cranbourne Line Upgrade, which allowed 50 extra services to run on the line each week, a new Merinda Park Station and the removal of three level crossings.

The Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines will be boom gate free in 2025, changing the way people live, work and travel.
