Little learners in Mordialloc

Back to Newsfeed

The Mordialloc team recently visited Mordialloc Neighbourhood House to talk to local children about trains, construction and our upcoming works.

Running a transport themed story-time, the team read The Little Yellow Digger by Betty Gillerdale, which was a hit with the children who counted the many different coloured diggers. The kids also put their thinking caps on and designed their own colour palette through a colouring in activity.

Representatives from the Level Crossing Removal Project explained to the group what to expect as construction activity ramps up in Mordialloc, with workers busy building the new elevated rail, station, and making the area level crossing free.

The children then had a fun, hands-on experience dressing up in hi-vis gear and hard hats. They didn’t leave empty-handed, each taking home a Polaroid photo of themselves in their construction outfit, perfect for displaying proudly on the fridge.

The Frankston Line will be level crossing free by 2029 when these kinder children are in primary school, transforming the way they get to school, and their parents get to work.
