PLANNING

Bear Street and McDonald Street, Mordialloc and Station Street, Aspendale

We’re removing the level crossings at McDonald Street in Mordialloc and Station Street in Aspendale by building new rail bridges.

Improvements to the local traffic network will then allow the level crossing at Bear Street to be closed to vehicles, creating a vibrant station precinct with safe access for pedestrians and cyclists.

As part of the project, we’ll also build a new Mordialloc Station.

Removing these level crossings will reduce congestion, improve safety and pave the way for more capacity on the Frankston Line. With no level crossings in the area, journeys will be faster and more reliable, and local roads will be safer.

Planned timeline

Early site investigations started in March 2023 and construction will begin in 2024. Mordialloc will be boom gate free by 2026.

Removing these level crossings will help create a level crossing free Frankston Line by 2029.
