Works are ramping up this winter to make Mordialloc level crossing free with crews working 24/7 during a 10 day construction blitz from the evening of Monday 18 August.
This construction blitz enables major works to start and will allow us to keep the Frankston Line running during the construction of the elevated rail bridges and new Mordialloc Station.
During the works, we will:
- build the foundations of the rail bridge in Aspendale
- continue piling works in the rail corridor in Mordialloc and Aspendale
- close Platform 2 of Mordialloc Station and start removing the buildings and tracks
- remove boom gates from the Bear Street level crossing which is now permanently closed.
For more information about works during the construction blitz, please read our latest works notice.
During the construction blitz, buses will replace trains on sections of the Frankston and Stony Point lines. For more information, or to plan your journey, visit the PTV website.
Keeping the Frankston Line moving
To keep Frankston Line trains running while we build the elevated rail bridges and new Mordialloc Station, Platform 2 at Mordialloc Station will temporarily close and trains will run in both directions from Platform 1.
There will be an altered timetable and passengers are encouraged to plan journeys ahead.
For more information about how we’ll keep the Frankston Line moving during the Mordialloc Level Crossing Removal Project, read our fact sheet.
Removing these level crossings will reduce congestion, improve safety and pave the way for more capacity on the Frankston Line. With no level crossings in the area, journeys will be faster and more reliable, and local roads will be safer.
Mordialloc will be boom gate free and the new station will open in mid 2026.
