Look what’s app-piered at Keon Parade

The construction team would like to thank everyone for their patience as sections of the Mernda Line were closed recently.

While you were on the bus, workers hit the tracks around the clock to continue removing the level crossing at Keon Parade and start work on the foundations of the new Keon Park Station.

These works included:

  • overhead wiring
  • piling and installation of pier and crosshead at the centre of Keon Parade, which will form the foundations of the rail bridge
  • constructing hardstand (getting the ground ready for heavy machinery)
  • installation of new traffic signals.

Fast facts

  • A crew of around 250 worked around the clock on site each day over the past week.
  • More than 4,500 baked goods and coffee vouchers were handed out to bus replacement passengers from local Reservoir suppliers, including All Heart Café and Bean Gone Café.
  • The larger of the 2 piling rigs currently on site weigh 75 tonnes and reaches a height of nearly 39m.

Over the coming months, the Keon Parade site team will continue to deliver and install concrete segments which make up the elevated rail line.

We’re removing the dangerous and congested Keon Parade level crossing by building a 750m long rail bridge over the road and building a brand new Keon Park Station with modern facilities for passengers.

Keon Parade will be boom gate free and the new Keon Park Station open to the community in 2025.
