Mt Derrimut Road level crossing gone for good by 2024

Back to Newsfeed

Mt Derrimut Road level crossing in Deer Park will be gone for good by 2024, a year ahead of schedule.

Works will begin by the end of 2021 to build a 2km rail bridge over Mt Derrimut Road and a brand new Deer Park train station.

The suburbs of Deer Park and Ardeer will be level crossing free by 2024, once the Mt Derrimut Road level crossing, along with 2 nearby crossings at Robinsons Road and Fitzgerald Road, are removed.

New Deer Park station

The new Deer Park Station will include:

  • a new pedestrian connection linking suburbs north and south of the rail line
  • new landscaped areas
  • 150 new and upgraded car spaces as part of the Car Parks for Commuters program
  • improved bicycle facilities.
  • Concept designs

Nearby level crossing removals

Works on the nearby Fitzgerald Road and Robinsons Road level crossings are already well underway.

Three massive piling rigs will soon start work on Robinsons Road, with crews digging 118 circular foundations that will support retaining walls for the new road underpass and rail bridge.
