We’re removing the level crossing at Mt Derrimut Road in Deer Park by building a rail bridge over the road and building a new Deer Park Station.

Removing this level crossing will ease delays for the 23,000 vehicles that pass through the crossing every day, where boom gates can be down for up to 60% of the morning peak.

The new Deer Park Station will feature 2 accessible elevated platforms, a bus interchange, landscaping and improved connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists.

The new station at Deer Park will open in late April when trains will begin to operate again on the Geelong and Ballarat lines. Further disruptions will be in place on the Geelong Line until Wednesday 3 May. Works will continue on the new station until project completion in 2024.

The nearby level crossing at Fitzgerald Road, Ardeer was removed in July 2022, and the level crossing at Robinsons Road, Deer Park was removed in September 2022.

When all 3 crossings are gone, the Geelong and Ballarat lines will be level crossing free between Deer Park and the city
