The Mt Derrimut Road level crossing is gone for good, and the new Deer Park Station opened to passengers in 2023.
The new station features an air conditioned waiting room, multi-bay bus interchange and pick-up/drop-off zones. There are also 150 new and upgraded car parks, which brings the total number of car parks at the station to 487.
The Mt Derrimut Road boom gates were down for up to 60% of the morning peak, delaying some of the 23,000 vehicles that passed through each day and causing traffic chaos in this part of Melbourne’s western suburbs.
The nearby level crossing at Fitzgerald Road, Ardeer was removed in July 2022, and the level crossing at Robinsons Road, Deer Park was removed in September 2022. The Ballarat and Geelong lines are now level crossing free between Deer Park and the city.
