The new Aircraft Station car park in Laverton is now open, providing commuters with ample parking space.
100 new and upgraded car parks were opened to the public at Aircraft Station, as part of the Car Parks for Commuters Program, with a total of 138 car spaces now available.
The newly-landscaped car park also features new trees and grasses.
Commuters can now park at the station and access the platforms via the newly-opened underpass, ramps and stairs.
The new underpass opened last week and provides access to the Aircraft Station platform from the north and south.
Additionally, natural light filters into the underpass and it is well-lit at night with CCTV cameras for added security.
What's next?
A new 26 space bike storage facility, as well as 37 extra bike hoops, will be installed by the end of March.
Finishing and landscaping works will take place over the coming months, with more than 350 new trees to be planted.
Crews will also finalise works on the architectural elements and upgrade the station forecourts.
The car park and underpass are part of the second phase of the Aviation Road project, following the removal of the dangerous level crossing in September 2019.
