New Union Station to open on 22 May

Back to Newsfeed

Union Station is on track to open on Monday 22 May as part of works to remove the dangerous and congested level crossings at Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert and Union Road, Surrey Hills.

We are working 24/7 to complete the big dig.

The new Union Station will open Monday 22 May and trains will return, running to the previous Surrey Hills Station schedule until the new timetable starts on Sunday 28 May.

Mont Albert Road and Union Road will reopen in early May with ongoing traffic management on both roads.

Vehicle access to local streets reopens Monday 22 May, with vehicle access to Beresford Street East and Lorne Parade limited to resident-only access while finishing works are completed.

Work continues into Spring on station car parks, open spaces, landscaping and finishing touches.

We will continue to work with residents to keep them updated about these ongoing works and assist them.

Final designs for the new open spaces and landscaping are available now. The designs reflect considerable community feedback and we thank everyone who has provided us with their input throughout our consultation periods.

We thank residents, commuters and traders for their patience while we complete one of the biggest engineering projects ever undertaken in Melbourne's east to make this area safer and less congested.
