The new Calder Park Drive road bridge is taking shape, with the north and south approaches to the bridge now freshly paved.
Over several days, workers laid 2000 tonnes of asphalt – equivalent to 170 truck loads – using a mix of 30% recycled content.
️The final layer of asphalt, called the ‘wearing course’, will be laid closer to the road opening later this year.
Crews will continue constructing the foundations for the new road bridge and shared use path, relocate and install essential services and install concrete bridge barriers, kerbs and guardrails along the new bridge.
The Calder Park Drive and Holden Road boom gates will be gone for good in 2025, bringing the Sunbury Line one step closer to being level crossing free in 2025, a year ahead of schedule.
The opening of the Metro Tunnel this year will also give commuters on the Sunbury Line access to 5 new underground stations in Melbourne.
