Mt Derrimut Road has reopened following month-long, around the clock works to upgrade the intersection with Tilburn Road and Station Road.
The level crossing at Mt Derrimut Road was removed in April, with an elevated rail bridge taking its place, easing congestion and making the road safer.
Upgrading the intersection will create better connections to the new bus interchange at Deer Park Station and improved station access for commuters.
The new bus interchange will increase accessibility to public transport services for commuters and while the 150 new and upgraded car parks will also have lighting and CCTV improving safety.
Station precinct taking shape
Our project team will continue working on the station precinct and landscaping over the coming months to install the lift and ramp on the Geelong and Ballarat-bound platform, begin building the southern car park and new bus interchange, and complete the pedestrian through-link beneath the rail bridge.
Finishing works will also continue on the station waiting room, ticketing office and a new Parkiteer for cyclists to be completed, with Myki barriers now operational.
The northern car park off Station Road will be completed next month, with lift access to the city-bound platform lighting installed on both platforms. Temporary seating on the platforms will also be replaced with permanent seats.
Delivering more reliable services to the west
The Mt Derrimut Road level crossing removal followed works at Fitzgerald Road, Ardeer and Robinsons Road, Deer Park and has made the Geelong and Ballarat lines level crossing free between Deer Park and the city.
A further 4 level crossing removals are planned for the Melton Line, with Hopkins Road, Truganina and Ferris Road, Coburns Road and Exford Road in Melton all going.
Seventeen dangerous and congested level crossings are being removed in the west and northwest.
In total, 110 level crossings are being removed across Melbourne by 2030, with 70 already gone for good.
