Seaford is set to be a more connected and leafy seaside suburb with the final designs for the $10 million revitalisation of Seaford announced today.
When we went out to the community, they told us they wanted the revitalisation to improve walking and cycling, create a new community space, and enhance the native vegetation in the area.
Using ideas from almost 400 survey responses, the new designs capture this feedback and build on what people already love about Seaford to improve access and safety in the area.
We’ll be planting more than 100,000 trees, plants and shrubs and building over 6km of walking and cycling paths. The trees will provide shade and cover for the RF Miles Reserve, which will include a community space and a new playscape.
The new walking and cycling paths from Eel Race Road through Seaford and on to Frankston will link these bayside communities and improve access to other walking and cycling trails as well as shops.
Revitalisation works and the restoration of RF Miles Reserve will start later this year and continue throughout 2019. The oval will be ready for play in time for the 2020 footy season. We’re also making sure that we future proof the ground so work to upgrade the pitch to AFL standard and build a new pavilion can be done.
In addition to the revitalisation, Seaford residents are already benefiting from the removal of the level crossing, which saw Seaford Road lowered by 1.5m to build a road underpass.
