Site investigations continuing for Mordialloc level crossing removals

Back to Newsfeed

We’ve been out in Mordialloc over the past 6 months completing important site investigations ahead of works to make Mordialloc level crossing free.

Crews have been taking soil samples, investigating where utilities are in the area, and conducting traffic studies.

We’ve already drilled 14 boreholes with crews continuing investigations throughout spring. The soil sampling and visual site investigations, alongside your feedback, will inform the next stage of designs for the project.

During these works, traffic management will be in place to help guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the area, check our works notice to see where we’ll be working here.

We’re removing the level crossings at McDonald Street in Mordialloc and Station Street in Aspendale by building new rail bridges.

Improvements to the local traffic network will then allow the level crossing at Bear Street to be closed to vehicles, creating a vibrant station precinct with safe access for pedestrians and cyclists. As part of the project, we’ll also build a new Mordialloc Station.

Early works will start in 2024 with the project done by 2026.
