6 and out for Melton Highway's road bridge

All 6 lanes on the Melton Highway road bridge in Sydenham are now open to traffic following the completion of major works this month.

The transition of traffic onto the northern side of the bridge in August this year allowed for 2 lanes to operate in both directions, as workers applied the finishing touches to the middle of the bridge.

With those works now done, three lanes are moving in each direction alongside dedicated bike lanes and footpaths, resulting in safer and more reliable journeys for vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and Sunbury-Bendigo Line trains.

As the project nears completion, minor works will continue under the new bridge to finish aspects such as paving, lighting and the connection of Sydenham and Victoria roads.

A public artwork, once finalised, will also be installed under the bridge.
