Local kids had the chance to learn more about real life construction when our team at Calder Park Drive hosted 10 community engagement sessions across two days at Hillside Community Centre.
Residents big and small were in attendance with over 120 attendees and something for everyone, including:
- our famous kids digger and crane that were crowd pleasers
- interactive stations that highlighted the moving parts of a real life construction project such as planning, safety, environment and construction
- video fly through, artist impressions and works notices with more information
- engineers, communications staff and alliance volunteers to provide confidence to the community.
These sessions help to build awareness of the project as it continues major construction, and keep the community informed about upcoming disruptions.
We received positive feedback from people of all ages, with locals commenting that the events were a great initiative for both kids and adults to learn more about the project and what to expect.
There was also strong feedback specifically regarding how hands-on the events are a great activity during school holidays.
Major works are underway to remove the level crossing at Calder Park Drive by building a new road bridge over the Sunbury Line, with one lane in each direction.
We’re making the Sunbury Line level crossing free in 2025, removing 8 dangerous and congested level crossings to improve safety, reduce congestion and run more trains, more often.
