What we heard from Officer locals

Back to Newsfeed

Officer, thanks for your feedback!

We’re removing the dangerous level crossing at Station Street, Officer by closing the road. The level crossing will be gone for good in 2025, making the Pakenham Line level crossing-free.

In October 2022, we asked locals how they move around the area. Feedback received will be used to inform the final project design.

The survey was open for 4 weeks, with 36 submissions and an additional 34 comments received. We heard that improved access to Officer Station was important to locals. Proximity to transport and walking and cycling connections were most valued by the community.

We also met with local businesses in the area to understand how they use Station Street, and Officer South Road. We’ll continue to meet with the local community to share information about the project and changes to the local area.

Later this year, we’ll share the updated designs for the project.

When the Officer level crossing closes, drivers will be able to access Princes Highway and Princes Freeway via Brunt Road, where we’re also removing a level crossing.

We’re working closely with key stakeholders to ensure changes to local traffic are minimised. We’re also monitoring traffic conditions to keep locals moving safely through the area.

Early works will start in mid 2023 with the level crossing gone for good by 2025.
