Works on the Mordialloc Level Crossing Removal Project are continuing as we prepare for major construction later this year.
In January and February, ground and site investigations will continue. We’re also installing temporary fencing around the project area and installing concrete barriers on roads, including Station Street and Nepean Highway.
During this time, there will be changes to the way you travel in the area. This includes changes to car parking, pedestrian and cycling paths, local bus stop locations and pedestrian access across the rail line.

We’re removing the level crossings at McDonald Street in Mordialloc and Station Street in Aspendale, by building new rail bridges.
The level crossing at Bear Street will then be closed to vehicles, transforming the area into a vibrant station precinct with enhanced safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
As part of the project, we’ll also build a new Mordialloc Station.
The level crossings will be gone for good by 2026 and the Frankston Line will be boom gate-free by 2029, changing the way locals live, work and travel.
