Victoria’s Big Build is in full swing with a number of road works across Melbourne's south-east during summer to reduce travel times and improve safety and reliability.
Hall Road Upgrade
North and western legs of the Hall Road and McCormicks Road intersection are closed until 31 January, with lane closures continuing until mid-February.
There will also be Cranbourne-Frankston Road northbound lane closures at Hall Road intersection each weekend in February and a weekend closure of Hall Road between McCormicks Road and Western Port Highway in late February.
The Hall Road Upgrade will add extra lanes on Hall Road between McCormicks Road and Cranbourne-Frankston Road and upgrade key intersections y to reduce bottlenecks and ease congestion at peak times.
Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade
Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road lane closures and speed reductions continue as required between the Princes Freeway and Manks Road.
In addition, Greenhills Road will be closed at Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road from 11 January to 19 March, Ballarto Road East will be closed east and west of the Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road intersection from 30 January to 24 April and Island Road will be closed between Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road and Lea Road from 30 January to 24 April.
The upgrade will add an extra lane in each direction between Princes Freeway and Manks Road as well as adding new traffic lights at Greenhills Road and a new bridge over Deep Creek, lowering the risk and severity of crashes and improving travel times.
Lathams Road Upgrade
Lathams Road is closed between Stephenson Road and Frankston Gardens Drive until 6 February.
This upgrade will create new right turn lanes at Levida, Titan, Brett and Tova Drive, widen the existing roundabouts at Oliphant Way and Frankston Gardens Drive and upgrade the intersection at Frankston-Dandenong Road.
These works will help to drastically improve commuting and traveling time throughout the south east and provide road users with greater options to reach the connecting major arterial roads across south east Melbourne and beyond.
Monash Freeway Upgrade – Stage 2
Day and night lane closures between Warrigal Road and EastLink from 11 January to 25 January.
Monash Freeway closed overnight at Warrigal Road from 15 January to 19 January. Ramp and road closures as required on the Monash Freeway and surrounding roads between Warrigal Road and EastLink.
Princes Freeway closed overnight between Princes Highway and Beaconsfield interchange from 15 to 24 January.
Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road Upgrade
The Thompsons Road and Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road roundabout is closed until mid-February.
During the closure the roundabout will be upgraded to a signalised intersection and dramatically improve safety and travel time for commuters and residents throughout the area.
The upgrade will duplicate Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road between Thompsons Road and the South Gippsland Highway and proving new shared walking and cycling paths throughout the project area.
Narre Warren North Road Upgrade
Narre Warren North Road and Ernst Wanke Road intersection closed from 12 to 25 January.
During the closure, new through lanes will be added at the intersection and existing turn lanes lengthened to create more capacity and improve traffic flow.
The upgrade will improve safety and travel times for more than 14,000 vehicles that use the road each day.
Pound Road Upgrade
Lane will be closed on South Gippsland Highway between Pound Road West and Carter Way until 1 February.
These works support the construction of a new bridge over the Cranbourne rail line which will remove the dead ends at Remington Drive and Pound Road West. This new bridge will improve travel and reduce congestion in the area for freight traffic and commuters.
Transport network
There will also be lane closures and speed reductions as required on O'Shea Road, Golf Links Road, Hallam North Road, Heatherton Road, McGregor Road, Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road and Western Port Highway.
