Three road upgrades one step closer

Back to Newsfeed

Drivers are a step closer to safer, smoother and more reliable journeys, with the green light given to the upgrades of Craigieburn Road in Craigieburn, Golf Links Road in Langwarrin South and Pound Road West in Dandenong South.

Three contractors will build the road upgrades with us as part of the biggest suburban road upgrade program in Victoria’s history, boosting the state’s economy and creating thousands of jobs.

The contractors are:

  • Craigieburn Road Upgrade - Fulton Hogan
  • Golf Links Road Upgrade - MACA Civil
  • Pound Road West Upgrade - Seymour Whyte Constructions.

The three upgrades are being delivered through a new partnership approach to road building contracts, that means major projects move from paper to pavement sooner and easier.

The projects are jointly funded by the Australian and Victorian governments and will create opportunities for local businesses and improve connections in a key part of Melbourne.

The Craigieburn Road Upgrade is expected to start in the second half of 2021 and scheduled to be complete in 2025.

Major construction on the Golf Links Road Upgrade and the Pound Road West Upgrade is expected to start in late 2021.
