Game changing sports upgrades at Greensborough College are now complete, ready for students, local clubs and the sporting community to use.
The new facilities include a pavilion overlooking the natural turf AFL/cricket oval with synthetic soccer and cricket pitches, new cricket nets, scoreboards, field lighting, and a new car park.
Greensborough College students can now take advantage of the new facilities, with the grounds also able to accommodate Watsonia Heights Football Club, Macleod Junior Football Club, St Mary’s Greensborough Junior Football Club, Macleod Cricket Club and St Mary’s Football Club during the construction of North East Link.
It will be a warm welcome home for St Mary’s Greensborough Junior Football Club who played their home games at Watsonia Tech (the former name of Greensborough College) for the club’s first five seasons after they formed in 1973.
As we prepare to start major construction later this year, 19 sports grounds across Melbourne’s northern and eastern suburbs are being upgraded as part of a $68 million investment into sports facilities. Improved playing surfaces, floodlights and six brand-new pavilions to support over 20,000 players in sports, including football, cricket and soccer.
Funded by North East Link, the Greensborough College upgrades have been delivered by the Victorian School Building Authority with Banyule City Council and Greensborough College.
