The inclusive basketball programs offered by the Diamond Valley Basketball Association (DVBA) has been expanded to include wheelchair basketball, thanks to the North East Community Fund.
The DVBA successfully applied for a $75,000 grant to develop the community program to ensure people with all abilities could experience and enjoy a community activity that enhances their health and wellbeing.
DVBA General Manager Patrick Di Lizio said they are excited to finally bring wheelchair basketball valley to Melbourne’s north.
“We have a fully accessible facility and now the equipment to provide an amazing program for people with all abilities to play,” he said.
Two “come and try” days have already been held, and registrations are open for the upcoming season on the DVBA website.
Over 100 projects and initiatives have been funded through the first 2 rounds of the $10 million North East Community Fund that is helping local groups and organisations during construction of the North East Link.
If you know a local community group in a high impact area encourage them to apply before 10 September.
