Community groups in Melbourne’s north east can now apply for the second round of the North East Community Fund.

The $10 million fund was established in 2022 to support community projects during construction of North East Link. The fund supports projects big and small, bringing lasting community benefits to areas most impacted by construction.

Community groups located in highly impacted areas including Watsonia, Yallambie, Greensborough, Macleod, Bulleen, Balwyn North, Viewbank, and Heidelberg are invited to apply for this round of funding.

Funding will be offered in 2 categories – grants and partnerships – and allows not-for-profit and community groups to access funding for projects that bring benefits to the local community while North East Link is built.

Projects could include tree planting, support for local events and festivals, community art initiatives or minor capital works upgrades to community centres.

A series of free grant writing workshops will be run to help applicants understand the eligibility criteria and develop their applications.

In the inaugural round of the fund, 52 projects will receive over $1.8 million worth of funding to support their local community. Projects ranged from improvements to sporting and recreation facilities, new uniforms, play equipment and community celebrations.
