Congratulations to the 77 successful recipients of the latest round of the North East Community Fund, with $1.6 million in grants awarded to schools, sporting clubs, community groups and not-for-profit organisations.
Delivered as part of North East Link, the $10 million fund provides long-term support for communities affected by construction, including Bulleen, Doncaster, Greensborough, Kew and Watsonia.
This round will help deliver upgrades to community spaces, schools, sporting facilities and local non-profit services.
Recipients for this round include Box Hill North Primary School, to create a new inclusive and accessible playground, and St John Riverside Community Garden, to restore vegetation along Salt Creek.
Other funded projects include Diamond Valley Foodshare, to upgrade facilities and equipment to better support volunteers, an inclusive and sensory-safe space for the Watsonia scout hall, and an expanded inclusive outdoor play space for Guide Dogs Victoria.
The Diamond Valley Foodshare and Watsonia Scouts say they are incredibly grateful to have financial support from the North East Community Fund.
To date, the North East Community Fund has supported more than 300 community projects, with more than $8.5 million in funding already allocated and being put to work across the north east.
Applications for the next round of the North East Community Fund will open next year.
